Poll rules: Your ranking is based on who you played, where you played, who was hurt, who got hurt and who was playing. You play someone good and win, you get rewarded. You lose to someone good, you don’t get penalized as much. You play someone you should beat by 30+, you don’t get overly praised(Wisconsin. Enough already with these games). Rankings are not indication that team ranked higher would beat team ranked lower on neutral field. It’s a valuation of the overall body of work. We play favorites and hold grudges as well: TW     LW     TEAM(RECORD) 1          1         Alabama(1-0) -Had a tremendous bye week practice on Tuesday 2         6         Texas A&M(2-0)-Self-serving here, 1 vs 2 for me this week. Otherwise they’d be in the teens. 3         2         Clemson(2-0)- Played FCS team but supporting in-state programs is cool with us 4         –         Stanford(1-0) -David Shaw is one of college football’s best coaches 5         9         Oregon(2-0) -Credit for traveling east 6         8         Georgia(1-1) – Two quality opponents. Two thrilling games. Love the Gurley man. 7        15         Michigan(2-0) -Gardner now wears #98 and he is really good 8         3         Florida State(1-0) – Drop? Sources says an average Wednesday practice during bye week 9         4        LSU(2-0) -I was bored when I watched a little of game. can only imagine players were as well 10      7         Washington(1-0) -Drop? Didn’t play. 11       10      Northwestern(2-0) -I think they are as good as anyone in Big Ten 12       11      Ohio St(2-0) -Bored with you right now 13       5        South Carolina(1-1) -This can go bad quickly with Clowney upset and Spurrier ripping everyone 14       23      Notre Dame(1-1) -Lost to a good team 15       12      Ole Miss(2-0) -Careful Rebels. We believe in you. Too close this week 16       17      UCLA(1-0) -Didn’t play. Probably should have dropped them 17       21      Oklahoma(2-0) -Still not sure what you are 18       22      Louisville(2-0) -You know the story. Teddy is great but the schedule… 19       –         Miami(2-0) -Hey “U” great win, not back yet 20      20      Northern Illinois(1-0) -Didn’t play. Start playing 21       14      TCU(1-1) -When your starting QB goes out, so does your ranking 22        –        Oklahoma State(2-0) – Here comes trouble…as in SI story on your program 23       25.5  Texas Tech/Baylor(2-0) – Same thing. Pass, pass, pass, score..Repeat 24        –         Wisconsin(2-0) -Barely deserve this because of who and how first two games went 25        –         Florida’s Defense- You are needed back on field after another offensive turnover 25.5    –         Miami Booker T. Washington High School(2-0)- Beat rival Miami Central in battle of top 2 high school teams in country. Now owns wins over two top 10 nationally ranked teams and has a roster with about 20-30 D1 prospects. 25.6    –        Eminem -His few minutes in the booth with Musburger better than any game you will watch this season Conference Rankings 1. AC…No. Close but not yet….SEC- But watch it  Tennessee. Those turnovers won’t be coming every week 2. Pac 12- Why not ACC #2? Anyone watch Oregon vs. Virginia? Plus, Stanford, Washington and UCLA are good 3. ACC- Al Golden has spotted Bruce Springsteen in a weight room before 4.  Big Ten- Northwestern as good as anyone in league. Wisconsin, when does the season start? 5. Big XII- Too many teams who run it up for sake of running it up, except Oklahoma The “Here’s What We Want to See This Week” about Johnny Manziel: Well, it’s Alabama week the opportunities are endless. So let’s go with a “Instagram” picture of Johnny Football holding a ticket of a bet on the big game and we can all wonder if the ticket is real, did he buy the ticket, and was he really in Las Vegas to make a bet. Then have Manziel make an appearance on “GameDay” sipping a  drink with an umbrella in it high-fiving Corso as he comes on set. Heisman Ballot for this week: 1. Devin Gardner and Jeremy Gallon-Michigan’s dynamic duo vault into top spot. What about that awful INT by Gardner? That was awesome 2. Todd Gurley- Man’s game. Big bruising back who’d start for half the teams in the NFL. 3. Jameis Winston- You better be good this week 4. Johnny Manziel- You better be really good this week 5. Teddy Bridgewater- Why he likely won’t win Heisman? Gurley’s game against South Carolina more impressive 5a. Eminem-In his brief appearance, he was must watch from start to finish Bits and pieces:  One of the biggest stories of the week will be SI’s story on Oklahoma State and alleged violations in the football program from the Les Miles era. It will highlight everything from a pay-for-play plan, academic fraud, hostesses doing more than providing directions on campus and more. Miles will deny and dodge questions all week and the statue of limitations has expired on most, if not all, of anything in the story. Why will nothing come out of this? Because Oklahoma State Sugar Daddy T. Boone Pickens will make sure of that…Speaking of this Oklahoma State story, […]
